Financial Services Industry Experience
Our experience in financial services, either as consultants, entrepreneurs, or employees in the industry, includes the following:
Mortgage Bank
Developed a business plan and financial forecast for American Mortgage Specialists, one of the largest mortgage banks/brokers in the western U.S., with 180 branch offices and 1,200 employees. Until now, the company’s growth had been fueled through marketing expertise. However, further growth was constrained by working capital needs. Cayenne Consulting prepared a business plan to make the case for investing in AMS.
Social Investing
Founding member of an innovative and scalable investment management platform which creates a dynamic marketplace between skilled fund managers and self-directed investors. Developed business plan and financial forecast, and built and maintained a fully integrated financial model including intrinsic valuation models. Integral part of securing and negotiating four investment transactions with venture capital funds.
Foreclosure Prevention
Assisted a real estate investment company in developing a business plan that was used to raise capital for this fast-growing company. The business plan was to establish a warehouse line of credit from a local bank. The client used the proceeds to purchase homes from owners who were about to default on their mortgage with the intent of keeping the resident in the home and then selling the home back to the resident in the future.
Specialty Lending
Developed the business plan for a San Francisco Bay Area financial company which is the first and only private lender to offer asset-based financing to the antiques and fine arts community largely over the Internet.
Tax Credit Brokerage
Prepared recommendations for restructuring the originations process of a San Francisco boutique investment bank specializing in structuring and marketing tax credit investments to institutional clients.

Back Office Processing
Developed a business plan and investor presentation for a provider of outsourced accounting and management solutions for alternative investment firms. The client was looking to leading investment banks to finance its expansion.

Obtained the full cooperation of numerous department heads (both functional and regional) to achieve successful implementation.

Clients included J.P. Morgan, Barclays, National Bank of Canada, AmSouth Bank, Bank Julius Baer, and others.

Following the financial supermarket business model, the company's rich product suite includes mortgages, home equity lines of credit, auto and equipment loans, as well as insurance and investment products.
Investment Banking
Analyzed, structured, negotiated, and arranged innovative cross-border financings, recapitalizations, and acquisitions of businesses by clients and for employer’s portfolio on transactions from $20-500M. Clients included sovereigns and companies in consumer and industrial products, mining and commodities, entertainment, agriculture, and financial services.

Why Choose Cayenne? Nine Great Reasons!
Get Investors To Notice
Most entrepreneurs can’t get investors to
return their calls. A majority of our clients secure meetings with potential funders. Our team’s efforts have contributed to over $4.3 billion in financing!
Get it Right the First Time
Funding is a binary event: either you succeed or you fail. If you fail, most investors won’t give you a second chance. Learn about the pros and cons of various approaches to developing business plans.
Work With True Experts
We’ve walked in your shoes and we understand what you’re going through. Many of us have advanced degrees from institutions like Harvard, Wharton, Berkeley, Cornell, Columbia, Stanford, Yale, Dartmouth, and Chicago.
Ongoing Support
We don’t stop when the business plan is complete. We have a talented team ready to help you implement it as well, either on a retained basis as interim members of your founding team or on a project basis, as needed.
Develop a Winning Strategy
Most so-called “business plan consultants” take whatever you tell them and type it into software. We go much deeper and help develop a viable strategy for success, which we then express in a compelling business plan.
Avoid Costly Mistakes
We know what works, and, more importantly, what doesn’t. A single mistake can render your plan unfundable. We wrote the original and often-cited article on Why Business Plans Don’t Get Funded.
No Salespeople
Deal directly with a senior business plan consultant from Day One – not a commissioned salesperson who will hand you off to a junior writer. Personal relationships matter, and you need to know exactly who you’re dealing with.
Save Money - Really!
We’re not cheap, but about half of our clients came to us after a business plan prepared by a less qualified business plan consultant did not work out. Why not get it right the first time and save money?
Fully Customized
Some business plan writers charge extremely low fees because they have a cookie-cutter, assembly-line approach. You get what you pay for. We work from scratch to represent your unique vision, not somebody else’s.
