Rick has served clients across many industries including oil & gas, clean and renewable energy, energy storage, aerospace, manufacturing, software development and publishing, SaaS (Software as a Service), mobile applications, media & entertainment, recycling, publishing, and transportation.
Rick served as CFO for startups in multiple industries, including Inland Environmental & Remediation (where he spearheaded a $15M mezzanine raise), MVC Environmental, Deep River Group, Carter Aviation Technologies, Paramount Digital Entertainment (a division of Paramount Television), Trinity Energy Storage Systems, and others. While Director of Business Planning at the venture capital division of The Becker Group of Companies, he oversaw development of business plans and financial models for four technology startups and participated in the merger and IPO of a software firm and hardware manufacturer. As Marketing Manager at Teledyne Analytical Instruments, he managed the launch of four new product lines.
In the energy sector, he has developed financial/engineering models for Southern California Gas & Electric to simulate the construction, operation, and financing of gas-fired power plants, a $6 billion oil refinery in Iraq, a $4 billion onshore and offshore oil drilling project, biomass power plants in India, solar farms in the Middle East and Africa, 10 GW wind farms, megawatt-class wind turbines, and oilfield waste recycling plants.
In the technology sector, he has developed investor packages for SaaS, mobile apps, IoT (Internet of Things) hardware manufacturers, cloud-based Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), and browsers with integrated VPN security. He has prepared grant proposals to develop VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) aircraft for DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), 25 MW wind turbines for NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory), and 5 MW wind turbines for SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research).
His business plans, financial models, engineering models, proposals, and white papers have successfully raised millions of dollars. While still a student at the University of Southern California's MBA program, he founded a software firm that developed and published the first business graphics software for microcomputers. Rick received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University.
