Lee’s advisory and creative passions, most often, run to “the newest of the new” – as he helps bring to reality a steady stream of next-stage concepts, solutions and platforms that are designed to dramatically improve key business processes and imaginative consumer offerings. Lee offers nearly two decades of experience in guiding emerging companies and entrepreneurs in evolving market opportunities, unique production and distribution pathways, investment planning and structure, corporate growth and development, equity and debt-equity structure, new product/service initiatives, financial analysis, and sophisticated investment documentation. Lee has advised over 300 senior management executives and emerging companies on next-step evolution, and has evaluated, structured and written scores of investment plans, complex financial projections and successfully-funded investment documentation. He has been involved in over $200 million in client fundings -- frequently illuminating the nuances of defendable financial forecasts to investors that range from private ”accrediteds,” to angels and angel funds, to a variety of institutional capital resource managing partners and boards.
Lee is a longtime member (though currently inactive) of the California State Bar, a former partner in media law (and trusted counsellor to many A-list Hollywood talent members) of two prominent Los Angeles law firms, a former Senior Media Packaging Agent at International Creative Management, a former California Real Estate Broker licensee, a former NASD Securities licensee (Series 7 and 63), a founder/chief executive/investor in several Internet distribution platform companies, and a former Managing Director of a well-known boutique advisory/investment planning company.
Lee currently consults to Insurgency, a Euro-bank-based structured finance fund for New Media, and to an LA-based emerging technology private equity fund that is partnered with several of the top U.S. research universities and labs and that develops and markets patented technology in a variety of industries.
Lee’s primary practice areas are next-gen technology, Internet and mobile media content, resource and energy, real estate funds, traditional entertainment (film, TV, music, gaming), creation and marketing of mobile apps, healthcare, SaaS software, encryption software, social media, eLearning, consumer products (e-commerce, ad-marketing solutions, brick-and-mortar crossovers, etc.), and investment funds for media and other industries. In addition to filing and assisting with proprietary patent applications, Lee is also an active raconteur and storyteller – a member of the Hollywood Guild known as the Writers Guild of America, and has participated in planning and creation of content for Internet/New Media, film studios, TV networks, production ventures and many funded entrepreneurial concepts. Lee helps in assembling world-class advisory boards and has worked with Nobel Laureates, Nobel candidates and several White House-level executives, including a former National Security Advisor to the President, a White House Chief of Staff and a two-time U.S. Secretary of Defense.
Lee holds a B.A. in History from the University of California at Los Angeles and a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law where he served as a member and Senior Editor of the prestigious UCLA Law Review. Lee is a former competitive bike racer, a lifelong participant in Asian martial arts, and a published author on the subject.
